The presidential candidate for Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi has vowed that anyone who rigs an election under his administration will serve a jail sentence.

He disclosed this on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time. He pointed out that the punishment would apply even where one vote was involved.

He made his stance on political integrity, opposition politics, and democratic government ahead of the coming presidential election.

“I’ve said it, and I’ll say it again: if I am the serving president of this country, whoever rigs elections will be in jail. Even for one vote, you will be in jail.”

Obi also emphasized that his administration would accommodate even the opposition political parties and involve them in decisions concerning the country.

He also criticized the restriction of campaign activities in some states, stating that political candidates should be allowed to campaign freely irrespective of the opponent.

The presidential candidate also said that opposition members would be involved in government decisions even when he’s out of the country.
